Energy Distribution

This pilot focuses on the training and continuous education of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator’s (HEDNO) employees to address the challenges of modernising networks and services.

Process Summary

The pilot aims to improve training and continuous education for HEDNO employees to modernise networks and services. Currently, long training sessions away from work lead to manpower shortages and service quality issues. Additionally, field technicians often require extra guidance and access to specific documents, leading to delayed maintenance and repair services, customer dissatisfaction, and increased operational costs. The proposed pilot uses Digital Twin technologies with XR experiencing tools to address these challenges by creating interactive digital replicas of HEDNO’S assets, enhancing employee knowledge and efficiency.

Advantages For End User & Innovation Potential

  • Introducing XR technologies to provide on-site personnel with access to maintenance logs, manuals, and datasheets.
  • On-site training using AR glasses, allowing experts to guide trainees through necessary actions.
  • Live remote assistance to technical staff performing service and maintenance procedures on transformers or switches.
